The souls of the hosts are kept alive within Orochimaru, leaving them "still alive", in a sense (albeit suppressed), and when Orochimaru switches hosts, the souls leave with him. The snake body then dies and falls apart, and Orochimaru's soul dominates the body (though the Sharingan seems to be able to negate and reverse the process against Orochimaru). Orochimaru then swallows the new host and takes him or her to a separate, mental plane where he envelops the mind of his victim. To perform this technique, Orochimaru reveals his true form: a gigantic white snake composed of smaller white snakes, by abandoning his current host's body. The fact that he wanted to prepare Sasuke Uchiha and Kimimaro for the transfer before performing it reinforces this.
#Naruto body swap full
Presumably, if he had a proper container, he could stay in the host for a full lifetime. It also seems that when the three years are almost over, he is forced to move into another host, as the previous one begins to weaken and reject him. Orochimaru can only perform this technique once every three years. By repeating this process periodically, this effectively allows the user to remain in the realm of living, so long as they can keep the host body alive while residing within. In Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth Full Power Ninja Chronicles, Ino uses a variation of the technique called Mind Reverse Body Technique (心逆身の術, Shingyakushin no Jutsu), which switches the minds of two separate targets, instead of her own.The Living Corpse Reincarnation immortalises one's mind, transferring it to a stronger body before the current host rots.In Naruto Shippūden the Movie: The Will of Fire, Ino uses a different hand seal to perform this technique. It is possibly because unlike Sora, Kinkaku was in complete control of his actions. Both characters are classified as pseudo-jinchūriki. However, in the manga, during the Fourth Shinobi World War she was able to use it on Kinkaku who was in his six-tailed, Version 2 form. In the anime, Ino Yamanaka was not able to use this technique on Sora when he was in his one-tailed form.In the anime, the usage of this technique is usually followed by the sound of something akin to a wolf howling. This can be rectified if user cancels the technique before the victim's body receives the damage. Furthermore, should any physical injury befall the victim's body while the mind link is active, it would cause the user's body to also receive those same injuries. Also, if the user's chakra level is low, the technique will be harder to maintain. Similarly, if the opponent's will is strong enough, they can force the user from their body, as Sakura Haruno did to Ino Yamanaka during the Chūnin Exams. The mind transfer moves slowly in a straight direction and takes some time to return to the user's body if it misses. It is generally used on immobilised targets.Ĭonversely, however, the user's original body is left defenceless while this technique is active, leaving it susceptible to attack until they return. To remain inconspicuous when spying, the user can perform this technique on an animal, such as a hawk, which they can use to do aerial reconnaissance. This has great strategic value when used on a team-mate as neither body is left incapacitated and they may also make use of the user's abilities as well as their own while doing this. It is also possible for the user to switch bodies with the target. Since the user is in another body, they are also able to use that body's chakra. While in control of the body, the user is able to communicate with the target. The user transfers their consciousness to the target, giving them complete control of the body for a short period of time. With it, a ninja sends his mind as spiritual energy into a target's body supplanting the target's mind with their own. Originally, this ninjutsu was suited for intelligence-gathering missions rather than battle. The Mind Body Switch Technique is the signature technique of the Yamanaka clan.
